Call: Swiss-Lithuanian Research Programme

Im Rahmen der Ostererweiterung der EU werden auch mit Lithauen Forschungsaktivitäten gefördert.

Für «Joint Research Projects» und «Scientific Institutional Partnerships» werden etwa CHF 10 Mio investiert. Der für den April 2011 angekündigkte Call wird nun im Oktober 2011 lanciert (aktualisiert 21.10.2011)

Weitere CHF 4 Mio stehen im Rahmen des SCIEX Programms für Lithauen zur Verfügung.

Themenfelder sind:

  • Umweltwissenschaften und -technologie,
  • Health/ Life Sciences,
  • Naturwissenschaften.

The above information sessions will be followed by a FAQ panel and a Networking Apéro, offered by the SDC.

Eligible projects

The types of eligible projects are joint research projects and institutional partnerships. Lithuanian-Swiss joint research projects as well as projects of institutional partnerships between Swiss and Lithuanian public higher education and research institutions are favoured. Participation of the third party from other countries could be considered. In case of participation of the third party in the project, all cost of this participation should be paid from the resources of the third party. Joint research projects under this programme are considered to be based on mutual Lithuanian – Swiss research activities performed by project partners during the project duration and in the framework of the indicated eligible research areas of bilateral cooperation. Institutional partnership is considered to be a partnership between Lithuanian – Swiss higher education and research institutions, based on organizing mutual events, like  conferences, workshops, seminars, trainings, etc. within the above indicated research areas.

Programme Budget and Project Size

A total amount of 9,708 Mio Swiss Francs will be spent on eligible projects. The size of each joint research project could be up to the amount of CHF 1.5 Mio. A maximum of 50% of the project budget can be allocated for the Swiss Partner. The size of each Institutional Partnership project can be up to CHF 50’000.-. Different projects can be combined.

Basic Principles

  • Quality: Scientific quality as well as the quality of the partnership
  • Visibility: The Objective and its results should be visible in both countries.
  • Transparency: Information on the overall conditions and requirements for joint research and institutional partnership projects (domains, time frame, number and timing of the call, allocation, selection procedure, selection criteria) is public and widely available.

2. Scientific and/or technological quality and significance of the research
3. Innovative character
4. Validity and quality of the research methodology
5. Capacity and the justification of the research team
6. Feasibility within the budget and timeframe
7. Management efficiency
8. Perspectives for the use and mainstreaming of the research results
9. Potential social impact of the project
10. Dissemination

Procedures

The project proposals will be handed in by the Lithuanian Partner. Receiving office and Executing Agency is the Research Council of Lithuania. The Proposals will be inspected by peer reviewers. The final decision will be made by the Joint Selection Committee, including 3 Swiss and 3 Lithuanian senior scientists.
