The Joint Technology Initiative for Electronic Components and Systems for the European Leadership (ECSEL) supports transboundary R&D projects in digitalisation, developing marketable products in the fields of micro- and nanoelectronics, system integration and intelligent systems.
Universities and industrial partners including SMEs with a potential interest in the participation in the ECSEL funding programme and its annual calls are invited to join the event to receive firsthand information and to be well prepared for the next smart systems call of ECSEL in 2020.

Registration is now open for the ECs Open Info Days on the last calls in the Horizon 2020 challenge „Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials“, taking place on 16-17 September 2019. The event targets applicants to the 2020 call topics in this area. It provides first-hand information on the calls as well practical information relevant for planning an application. ERC Synergy Grants enable 2-4 top researchers with complimentary skills and knowledge to jointly address a research problem in an unprecedented way. The last Synergy Grant call under the current European framework programme for research and innovation will open in July and close in November 2019.

Industry 4.0 refers to the rapid, digitally enabled transformations in the design, production, operation and service of manufacturing systems and products, providing a highly integrated value chain. The European Commission is investing €1.7 billion in Horizon 2020 for this digitisation of industry. Swiss entities, for-profit or academic, are fully eligible to participate and can get funded.
