In spring 2021, the SNSF will publish a call for proposals for the National Research Programme “Advancing 3Rs” aimed at improving animal research.Animal experiments are the subject of lively debate both among the public and within the research community. The development of new treatments still relies on animal research. At the same time, society’s demands for more animal welfare are becoming stronger. Under a Swiss government mandate, the SNSF is launching the National Research Programme “Advancing 3Rs – Animals, Research and Society” to take account of this area of tension and further improve research involving animals. The SNSF will publish the NRP 79 call for projects in spring 2021.
