Brexit Delayed: UK Participation in Horizon 2020

Following the extension of the Article 50 procedure until 31 January 2020, as well as other developments related to Brexit, UKRO just published their updated UKRO Brexit factsheet, which includes the latest information on UK’s participation in Horizon 2020 in the context of EU exit.

Main points:

  1. In a no deal scenario UK is an additional partner and not one of the 3 minimum partners of 3 EU or AC countries.
  2. The UK government has committed to guarantee competitive UK bids to EU funding submitted before exit, even if they are notified of their success after exit, for the lifetime of the projects.
  3. The UK government Post-EU Exit Guarantee Extension would cover funding for successful UK bids to EU calls open to third country participants from the date of exit until end of 2020. The guarantee would cover the lifetime of their projects, even if these last beyond 2020.

Most Horizon 2020 calls are accessible to third country applicants.
