An Applicant from the UK is looking for additional partners to join his/her consortium in order to submit a proposal to the Horizon 2020 Topic SC1-PM-02-2017: New concepts in patient stratification.
The objective of the project is to use existing bioinformatics data and perform discovery genomics work on stool samples to identify a microbiome signature for subtypes of colorectal cancer. Once this signature is found, it will be transferred to a new chemistry and platform. The idea is to reach the objective of a prototype for a low cost medical device that can look at stool samples and show the specific subtype of the colorectal cancer so that a better therapeutic treatment can be applied to the patient.
As the device will give an answer on the subtype of colorectal cancer and this is based on genetic material from a human being, a partner who has expertise in genomic/diagnostic ethics and/or law would be needed for the consortium. This is a relatively small part of the project but a very important one – in terms of the resulting IP the partner will have an equal share.
