ZHAW Mitglied im Swiss Reproducibility Network
Die ZHAW ist als sogenannter Local Node und Member Institution dem Swiss Reproducibility Network beigetreten. Dr. Christoph Hofer, Institut für Datenanalyse und Prozessdesign, und Dr. Vanessa Klaas, Ressort Forschung & Entwicklung, vertreten die ZHAW im Netzwerk und das Thema Reproduzierbarkeit an der ZHAW. Die Mitgliedschaft im Netzwerk gibt die Möglichkeit, sich mit anderen Institutionen auszutauschen, in Arbeitsgruppen zu Themen wie Training und Präregistrierung mitzuwirken und über Aktivitäten wie Coffee Lectures, Trainings, und Community Building, die Reproduzierbarkeit der Forschung an der ZHAW zu erhöhen.
Neuer Service in Pilotphase: Visualisierung grosser Datenmengen
Resultierend aus einem in 2021 durch den Digital Future Funds geförderten Projekt steht neu die Möglichkeit zur Visualisierung grosser Datenmengen ZHAW-weit zur Verfügung. Die Infrastruktur und Tools ElasticSearch/Kibana werden zentral von der ICT betreut. Informationen zur Nutzung und Einrichtung finden sich im Self-Service Portal. Neben der Bereitstellung ist auch individueller Support auf Anfrage (researchdata@zhaw.ch) möglich.
REDCap mit neuen Features
Das Datenerhebungs-Tool REDCap hat im Februar ein Major Update erfahren und bietet nun ein neues Modul «Multilanguage Management» an. Dies vereinfacht sowohl die Erstellung mehrsprachiger als auch einsprachiger, nicht-englischer Umfragen für die Nutzenden und bietet zusätzliche Flexibilität, Umfragen sprachlich zielgruppengerecht zu gestalten.

News on the ZHAW’s research data services
The ZHAW becomes a member of the Swiss Reproducibility Network
The ZHAW has joined the Swiss Reproducibility Network as a so-called local node and member institution. Dr Christoph Hofer from the Institute of Data Analysis and Process Design and Dr Vanessa Klaas from Research and Development are representing the ZHAW within the network and the topic of reproducibility at the ZHAW. Membership in the network provides the opportunity to exchange information and ideas with other institutions, to participate in working groups on issues such as training and pre-registration and to increase the reproducibility of research at the ZHAW via activities including coffee lectures, training courses and community building.
New service being piloted: visualisation of large volumes of data
As a result of a project funded by the Digital Future Funds in 2021, it is now possible to visualise large volumes of data across the entire ZHAW. The ElasticSearch/Kibana infrastructure and tools are managed centrally by ICT. Information on their use and the set-up process can be found in the Self-Service Portal. In addition to the provision of the infrastructure and tools, individual support can also be requested (researchdata@zhaw.ch).
REDCap with new features
The REDCap data collection tool underwent a major update in February and now offers a new “Multilanguage Management” module. This simplifies the creation of both multilingual and monolingual, non-English surveys for users and provides additional flexibility to design surveys that are linguistically appropriate for the respective target group.
