Wenn wir bisher im Newsletter des Ressorts F&E über Horizon Europe berichtet haben, so standen die besonderen Anforderungen im Zentrum, die sich aus dem Status der Schweiz als Drittland ergeben.
Doch nun können wir auch von den Erfolgen berichten, die Forscherinnen und Forscher der ZHAW in Horizon Europe erzielen. Denn obwohl das 9. Rahmenforschungsprogramm der EU erst letzten Frühling richtig angelaufen ist und sich Teilnehmende aus der Schweiz auf veränderte Anforderungen einstellen mussten, können sich bereits vier Forschende der ZHAW mit ihren Teams über eine positive Evaluation ihrer Eingaben freuen:
- Ruprecht Altenburger (Institut für Mechatronische Systeme) als Partner im Projekt Human Centered Technologies for a Safer and Greener European Construction Industry (HumanTech)
- Raushan Bokusheva (Institut für Umwelt und Natürliche Ressourcen) als Partnerin im Projekt LAnd use and MAnagement modelling for SUStainable governance (LAMASUS)
- René Itten und Matthias Stucki (Institut für Umwelt und Natürliche Ressourcen) als Partner in gleich zwei Projekten: Producing novel non-plant biomass feedstocks and bio-based products through upcycling and the cascading use of brewery side-streams (CHEERS) und Multifuel SOFC system with Maritime Energy vectors (FuelSOME)
Herzlichen Glückwunsch an alle beteiligten Forscherinnen und Forscher und an die beiden Institute.
Und ganz zum Schluss doch noch ein kleiner Hinweis auf die Herausforderungen. Die Erfahrungen im Vertragsprozess zeigen, wie wichtig es ist, dass die Koordinatorinnen und Koordinatoren die Partner aus der Schweiz von Anfang an korrekt im Proposal erfassen, damit umständliche Änderungen in einer späteren Phase vermieden werden können. Gerne unterstützen wir auch Eure Koordinatorinnen und Koordinatoren dabei.

Horizon Europe – first successes in a challenging environment
When previously reporting on Horizon Europe in this newsletter, we focussed on the special requirements arising from Switzerland’s status as a third country.
However, we are pleased that we can now also report on the successes achieved by ZHAW researchers in the 9th EU research and innovation framework programme. Although Horizon Europe only really got going last spring and participants from Switzerland had to adapt to the changed requirements, the submissions of four ZHAW researchers and their teams have already been met with a positive response:
- Ruprecht Altenburger (Institute of Mechatronic Systems) as a partner in the Human Centered Technologies for a Safer and Greener European Construction Industry (HumanTech) project

And finally, a brief mention of the challenges after all. Experience from the contract process has shown just how important it is that coordinators correctly record the partners from Switzerland in the proposals from the very beginning, thus allowing for cumbersome changes to be avoided at a later stage.
