Last night we organised the 5th Docker Switzerland user group meetup in Zürich. The event was co-located with the 7th CloudFoundry DACH user group meetup as well. We were overwhelmed to see the participation, the meetup page showed about a 100 people registered for the event, but about 75 showed up. Still it was a packed room at the ZHAW Lagerstrasse building in Zürich. Continue reading
The lab has been fortunate to have a successful strategic relationship with IAESTE Switzerland. Every year we have been getting about 2 exchange student interns through IAESTE from around the world. The students have learnt and grown professionally within our team and we learn a lot from them as well, boasting our rich international representation.
Our cooperation is recognised and rewarded by the IAESTE in their annual review magazine this year, where they feature our lab head’s aka TMB’s interview. Have a look! Continue reading
Tuesday evening (8th Sept 2015) we organised the OpenStack CH and Docker CH user group meetup. It was jointly held this time. The kind folks from IBM Zürich hosted the event in their premises and also co-sponsored with organising food and drinks. The other sponsor for the event was Joyent, the San Francisco based company, and one of whose open source products is Triton, formerly known as SDC (SmartDataCenter), which we have been working with for some time. Luca is doing his schooling from IMS (Informatikmittelschule) at KSH in Zurich. The curriculum requires three years of scholar education and one year of an internship to collect experience and learn new and interesting Cloud computing topics. At the ICCLab Luca will be working with the Software Defined Networking team.
After the high school he went to the “Informatikmittelschule” (a mix of IT and economics)
of Winterthur at the KBW to start his application developer apprenticeship.
He is currently finishing his 4-year long apprenticeship with an final internship in the
last year at the ZHAW to earn experience in developing and learn new things in an interesting environment.
Manu is a Computer Engineering student from Mataró, Barcelona. He is currently in his final year of studies at the Technocampus, Barcelona. He joined the ICCLab through the IAESTE internship program and is working as an intern from the 1st of July.
He is very interested in learning new things, news technologies, meeting friends, sports and learning new languages.
This is the first study-related work experience for Manu and he will be working in the Rating Charging Billing initiative team.
Earlier this week we were invited to the lab’s biggest social event till date. The reason was equally big! TMB (everyone knows TMB) threw the party as a gratitude to his team (that’s us!) as a celebration for getting the Professorship in the university, and the journey that he humbly owes to his vibrant team. I can confidently speak here on behalf of all, the feeling is mutual!
Last Friday, 17th July 2015, we celebrated the 5th b’day of OpenStack , with the OpenStack Switzerland User Group members. Like previous years, the party took place in the beautiful location next to the lake Zürich. We organised the party at a lakeside restaurant and our guests were delighted by lovely weather, great ambiance and food from the grill. There were no presentations scheduled, the members chose to have an evening of catching up with their friends from the community. Since we see each other every few months, there are several old faces, and its always great to see them again! Following are some of the pictures from the day. The OpenStack Switzerland User Group extends its thanks to the OpenStack Foundation for their contribution to help us make this a very enjoyable evening.
Janine is doing a second education that is made up from an internship at the ICCLab and visiting school part time at the Zürcher Lehrbetriebsverband ICT (ZLI). Before the ICCLab, she was working as a photo expert in a camera shop in Frauenfeld, Thurgau. At the moment, Janine is fully concentrating on learning the basics, so the projects she will be working on still have to be determined.
Janine has joined the ICCLab in June 2015.
