The ICCLab here in ZHAW will be co-organising the Open Cloud Day 2013: 11th June 2013 here in Winterthur. /ch/open understands the importance of Cloud Computing, as does the ICCLab. To get the full power of clouds in the view of /ch/open these clouds should be open according of the principles open cloud initiative. The goal is to foster open clouds and interoperability of clouds.
Dependability Modeling is carried out in 4 steps: model the user intercations, model the system functions, model the system services and then model the system components which make system services available. In the first part we will define which interactions could be expected from end users of the OpenStack cloud platform and construct the first part of the dependability graph. Once the dependapility model is constructed, a Dependability Analysis will be performed and several OpenStack HA architectures will be rated according to their outage risk.

The European commission recently released the outcomes of a number of cloud computing expert meetings in the form of a report. Members of the ICCLab have contributed to this report, “A Roadmap for Adanced Cloud Technologies under H2020”.
Many people think it maybe an unnecessary burden to set up a monitoring system for their infrastructure. However this, when it comes to an OpenStack installation should be considered indispensable and required. Knowing which resources are used by which VMs (and tenants) is crucial for cloud computing providers as well for their customers from billing and usage perspectives.
The ICCLab presented at SwiNG SDCD 2012 on how you can easily provision bare-metal physical servers. This presentation, “From Bare-Metal to Cloud” was an updated version of the presentation that was made at the EGI Technical Forum in Prague.
