COST IC0906 WiNeMO – 24-25 September, Ohrid, Macedonia

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is one of the longest-running European frameworks. The leading objective of this project is to support European research and innovation by encouraging scientific developments and integration of research communities.

On the 24th and 25th of September, the members of this project held one of the regular annual’s meetings in the beautiful city of Ohrid, Macedonia. More info can be found here.uist-winemo-image

The meeting was opened by proposing and voting for the next meeting’s date and venue. London will host the upcoming event and the proposed dates are: 21.04.2014 and 28.04.2014.

Next, a book in preparation was announced. WiNeMO Springer Book CFP has been extended to increase the quality and address the missing subjects. This offers an opportunity to the members of the ICCLab to contribute to the chapters: “Testbed, prototypes and measurements” or “Economical – business aspects“. Potential contributors should email to Ivan Ganchev (, Marilia Curado ( or Andreas Kassler (

The Horizon 2020 was discussed. It is the new EU project initiative after the FP7 expires by the end of this year. Some of the relevant topics in focus of this initiative include: smart & inclusive growth, sustainable growth, natural resources, security and citizenship etc. It will have a six years duration (2014-2020) and will count with 80 billion Euros.

Several interesting talks were presented form the area of Wireless Networking for Moving Objects (WiNeMO). On behalf of Thomas M. Bohnert and the ICCLab, Irena Trajkovska gave a talk entitled “P2P Multicast in KIARA with OpenFlow based QoS“, which raised the attention for interesting questions and comments.

CLEEN 2014 – Call for Papers

The Future Internet will consists in more flexible radio access networks which are less centralized than the network infrastructure we have today. Integration of flexible heterogeneous radio access networks in HetNets will allow further social diffusion of the mobile internet. Therefore the IEEE is exploring novel concepts to allow for flexibly centralised radio access networks using cloud-processing based on open IT platforms. The Second International Workshop on Cloud Technologies and Energy Efficiency in Mobile Communication Networks” (CLEEN) 2014 is scheduled for April 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. The goal of the workshop is research and discussion of technologies which enable cloud-based radio access networks that allow for high quality networking in terms of energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Building the Future Internet as a cloud-based Internet requires new concepts for the design, operation, and
optimization of radio access networks and backhaul networks as well as a tight integration of networks in cloud-processing IT infrastructures. Therefore a call for papers is assigned.

Paper submission deadline is: October 15th 2013

Acceptance Notification: December 15th 2013
Camera-ready: January 10th 2013
