INE has examined the economic clusters of the EU by participating in the METRIC project. The clusters were evaluated by size, number of employees and economic influence using data from the European Cluster Observatory. The highest rating of the transport cluster is three stars.
The distribution of the transport and logistics cluster is disperse in Europe (see map below). Special high values are found in Romania, the Baltic States and northern Italy. Important transport nodes such as motorway junctions, ports or major cargo airports can be determinant for reaching a three star rate.
