In the framework of the METRIC project, the Institute of Sustainable Development (INE) analyses the levels of vehicle ownership in Europe. The map below shows the number of vehicles (except trailers and motorcycles) per inhabitant in European NUTS2 (administrative divisions equivalent to regions/federal states). The stronger the red, the greater is the stock of vehicles per inhabitant.
