In the frame of the RACE2050 project a SWOT-Analysis of the European transport industry was carried out. The competitiveness of the different transport sectors was studied to get an insight into the current situation of the industry and to discuss challenges and opportunities related to upcoming developments.
The SWOT-Analysis had a focus on transport equipments and services, political issues, transport demand and the general conditions of the transport industry. The Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) of the transport industry were identified based on previous RACE2050 work packages and deliverables. The results of the SWOT-analysis are summarized in the table below.
An additional Meta-analysis was also conducted to point out prospective challenges, opportunities and uncertainties, which are likely to have an influence on the transport industry in the future.
