Today our group had a tough but really interesting trip into the world of leather and furniture industry. After a “healthy” breakfast we left Hangzhou to explore the Haining City Lili Leather Garments factory in Haining. Mr. Bi and Mr Wang Sen Sheng, the General Manager of the company, showed us all the different steps, which are necessary in the leather jacket production line.
It was impressive to see how much work it takes until the jackets are ready to be shipped out into the western world. The model they are producing for companies like Pierre Cardin contains over 100 individual pieces for each jacket.
After a great lunch with company representatives and Mr. Bi, we went to a company called “Haining Nice – Harvest Furniture Co., Ltd.” which is specialized in the furniture production. We were warmly welcomed by Jenny Cao, Vice
General Manager, and Lewis Cao, Executive Director. We got a short overview of the business and afterwards we were guided through the production halls. It was very interesting to see how the furnitures are produced. In the showroom we could see the different models, most of them made for the US market.
The last visit for that day was a visit at Xiamen ForestLin Trading Co., Ltd. After a short introduction how the tannery business works we were guided through the whole production area. The area was over 90’000 square meters and really remarkable. After visiting the showroom we left in direction Suzhou, which is a 2h bus ride away. After the check-in at the nice business hotel the students were pleased to enjoy there spare time.
