Study Trip Singapore Day 2

Swiss Embassy and Tenity

On Monday morning, our visit took place at the 80RR Fintech Hub, a co-working space specifically designed for fintechs, where we had the opportunity to meet the scientific counsellor of the Swiss Embassy and the head of Asia of Tenity, a global startup incubator.
Joël Brunner from the Swiss Embassy held a very informative presentation on Switzerland’s activities in Singapore and the differences between Switzerland and Singapore. Afterwards, Jonas Thürig from Tenity gave us an exciting insight into his work and explained the situation of fintech in Singapore and worldwide. The company is strongly connected to Switzerland, as it was founded in Switzerland in 2015 and has since expanded globally. He showed us how Tenity, as a global innovative accelerator and early stage investor, is creating the future of finance. With fintech being one of the biggest trends in Asia, Tenity has seen great success over the past few years.

Resort World Sentosa

In the afternoon, we visited the Resort World Sentosa (RWS). We took the cable car from HarbourFront MRT station and had a stunning view of Singapore’s skyline and the harbor. Upon arrival on the island, we received information about RWS, an integrated resort that offers various leisure activities for families and high-end visitors. We learned what it takes to run such a resort and how important it is to address the customer needs of different segments accordingly. Later, we had the opportunity to explore a beautiful hotel room and a luxurious villa. The tour ended at the impressively huge casino, which was quite different from those in Switzerland. All in all, we had a lot of fun and gained valuable insights into the resort business and the business model of RWS.
