In just one day, we experienced both the forward-thinking energy of one of Asia\u2019s top universities and the timeless elegance of a legendary hotel.
We started our morning at NTU. As one of the world\u2019s highest-ranked institutions, NTU impressed us with its big campus and interdisciplinary learning. Instead of regular lectures as we know them from traditional universities, students are split in groups of six who share a table and fullfill assignments together every day. After 2 tests in the morning – one individual and one group test – the 4 professors challenge the students over the before prepared topics and dicuss them within the class. Professors also track the students digitaly on their progress and help if needed.
The campus tour provided a glimpse into student life on a big campus with restaurants and a supermarket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, we stepped into the world of luxury at the Raffles Hotel. Known for its colonial charm and rich history, Raffles is more than a five-star hotel it\u2019s a symbol of hospitality excellence. Thomas, the GM of the Hotel (used to work in Switzerland) gave us a tour around and impressed us with his love for hospitality. Some even thought about trying to work once in such an environment. It was a powerful lesson in customer experience, brand identity, the love to detail and the emotional components of premium service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our visit ended at the Long Bar, where we enjoyed the original Singapore Sling and some salty peanuts. The floor was covered by the peanut shells, as it\u2018s their unconventional concept. Some of us stayed there to enjoy another Singapore Sling before moving to Lau Pa Sat, a hawkers center to experience Singapores traditional foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
