At 9.30 a.m., we were met\u00a0by Mr Qui Yi\u00a0in front of our hotel in order to board the bus to go to the Dalian Marine Diesel Co.\u00a0Mr Yi\u00a0is the North China Director of of W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 China\u00a0Ltd. and he organized the two visits for us today. He enabled us to visit two very interesting companies!<\/p>\n

DMD was our first company visit for this day. This company is licensed to produce ship engines for W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4\u00a0which\u00a0bought the\u00a0ship engine department of\u00a0Sulzer a few\u00a0years ago.\u00a0After a very interesting introduction we enjoyed a tour through their construction halls.<\/p>\n

We then were invited by W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 in a fancy hotel for\u00a0a typical Dalian style\u00a0lunch. After we enjoyed the great variety of the buffet we were already on our way again to the next company visit, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. DSIC. After a short introduction through the vice president and\u00a0a brief questions and answer session we found ourselfs in front of a 350 meters long and 300 000 tonnes heavy cargo ship. This was a very interesting experience for us and we appriciated this opportunity very much.<\/p>\n

A great thank goes to W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 and Mr Qui Yi\u00a0who organized these company visits for us.\u00a0The visits were very interesting and we have learnt\u00a0many things.\u00a0Once again we would also like to express our gratefulness to Haowen Wu, director of the international programs at the Dalian University of Technology, Shelly, the assistant of Haowen and Eileen, the assistant to the dean, for their assistence. Tomorrow we will leave for Shanghai…<\/p>\n
