Ltd (DLoco) production plant in the northwest of the city. The company with over 8&#8217;000 employees spans over a vast space and consists of an impressively large array of buildings. One of the key\u00a0impressions was the profound depth of the value chain from the company own iron-ore mine to the sale of the\u00a0locomotives. DLoco cooperates with severalwestern companies such as Siemens and GE.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_694\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-694\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-694\" title=\"First Impressions of Dalian2\" src=\"http:\/\/ianus.zhaw.ch\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/First-Impressions-of-Dalian2.jpg\" alt=\"At the Production Site\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-694\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the Production Site<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One of the guides proudly informed us that DLoco produced most of the heavy machinery it used in the factory, something that hardly exists in the western world these days. It was also interesting to get to know that roughly 30% of the workforce in the production line is female, which was astounding considering the hard manual labour demanded of the employees.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon we returned to the campus of DUT and sat into a lecture Prof R\u00fcttimann was holding in front of French and Chinese students. After his speech we received the chance to work in groups consisting of French, Chinese and Swiss students on the topic of \u201cHow business can change the world for a better.\u201d Being able to exchange ideas and listen to the opinions of students from two continents<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_695\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-695\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-695\" title=\"First Impressions of Dalian3\" src=\"http:\/\/ianus.zhaw.ch\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/First-Impressions-of-Dalian3.jpg\" alt=\"Prof Ren\u00e9 Ruettimann in Action during an Interncultural Workshop at the International Week of Dalian University of Technology\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-695\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prof Ren\u00e9 Ruettimann in Action during an Interncultural Workshop at the International Week of Dalian University of Technology<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>was interesting and will be kept in good memory by all participants.
