Study Trip Singapore 2024 – Day 6

Written by Domenik Ceni & Stefan Werner

Time flies in Singapore. It’s incredible that it’s already Friday, our last day in this fascinating city. Tomorrow, each of us will begin our journey back to Switzerland. But before that, we have two important visits scheduled for today: EDBI and UBS

Our day began with a visit to EDBI. After meeting in the lobby, we made our way to the 28th floor, where we enjoyed a morning coffee with a breathtaking view. Mr. Adesta warmly welcomed us and led us into the conference room.

EDBI, a leading global investor based in Singapore, invests in high-growth technology sectors that form the future economic pillars of Singapore. Since 1991, EDBI has supported the growth of portfolio companies in Asia and worldwide through its extensive network, resources, and experience. EDBI aims to achieve long-term shareholder value by attracting future leaders and technological innovators to Singapore, embedding new capabilities, creating employment opportunities, and building a resilient economy. The presentation was extremely engaging and provided us with valuable insights into EDBI’s business activities. After the presentation, we had some time to have lunch individually before heading to UBS.

After lunch, we were welcomed by Mr. Akcasayar at UBS. The impressive building and the professional demeanor of UBS left us all in awe. Mr. Akcasayar explained the various business fields and the role of UBS in the APAC region. The presentation was complemented by the CIO team, who presented us with valuable market insights in the APAC region. To conclude, we had the opportunity to admire the impressive facilities of UBS, which further emphasized the outstanding location and significance of this site.

After an informative and eventful day, we returned to freshen up for our last dinner. During a delicious Asian meal, we reminisced about the week, sharing our experiences and reflections.
This last day in Singapore was a fitting conclusion to our study trip. The visits to EDBI and UBS provided us with invaluable insights into the business world, highlighting the importance of innovation and global thinking for economic futures. Singapore has deeply impressed us, not only as a city but also as an economic hub.

We leave with many new impressions and valuable experiences and look forward to sharing and applying them back in Switzerland. Goodbye, Singapore – until next time!
