Singapore’s economy is hailed as a miraculous transformation from an emerging market to a developed, high-income economy in a short time. Led by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s strategic location became an ideal trade hub. Today, it serves as a global center for multinational companies, benefiting from its proximity to Asia-Pacific markets, advanced connectivity, infrastructure, and welcoming immigration policies. The Port of Singapore ranks second globally for cargo tonnage and is the busiest transshipment port. Major exports include electronics, chemicals, and services, with Singapore being a regional wealth management hub. Additionally, it attracts international tourists for various purposes such as business, MICE, and medical tourism.
Swiss students in their final semester at the ZHAW School of Management and Law (SML) embark on a study trip to Singapore after attending the seminar “Doing business in Asia.” The objectives of this trip include experiencing the Singaporean way of life through on-site exploration, exploring the cultural heritage and business practices in Southeast Asia, understanding the economic landscape of Singapore and its neighboring countries, learning how to expand their individual business network beyond Switzerland, and broadening their horizons for future professional careers.
