Merja Hoppe presented an overview on technological, social, economic and political trends.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2579\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2579\" style=\"width: 635px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2579 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/files\/2018\/10\/SES-Fachtagung-2018-Merja-Hoppe-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"424\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2579\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Merja Hoppe speaking at the SES Symposium 2018 (Source: energiestiftung.ch)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Together these trends \u2013 such as autonomous driving, change of lifestyle and new app-based mobility solutions \u2013 are expected to change how we travel in the future in a fundamental way. Less clear is the direction of this transformation. As future does not happen occasionally, the question of future mobility is not one of anticipating the future, but of deciding on the future we want to have.
