Passenger satisfaction may depend on accessibility issues. Therefore, one of the work packages (<a title=\"METPEX \u2013 measuring the quality of passenger experience\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2013\/12\/05\/metpex-measuring-the-quality-of-passenger-experience\/\">WP6<\/a>), leaded by INE, has as a goal to find the association of socio-economic factors and land use with accessibility. The first task of the work package (T6.1), recently finished, has focused on the socio-economic aspects and INE has contributed to the Task Report with demographic figures of Switzerland related to mobility patterns.<\/p>\n<p>A first result of the analysis was shown in a<a title=\"Demographics &amp; Mobility behaviour\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2013\/10\/29\/demographics-mobility-behaviour\/\"> previous post. The age range between 25 and 44 years old is the most active accumulating the longest travel times (around 95 minutes) and distances (around 45 kilometres) in a day compared to other age groups, while individuals over 65 report the shortest travel distances and times<\/a>.This finding is confirmed by the share of immobile days. Individuals over 65 report the highest share of days staying at home without trips (see figure below). Retirement, health issues and weather were identified as causes for lower mobility of aged individuals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/files\/2014\/05\/Immobile-age.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1778\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/files\/2014\/05\/Immobile-age.jpg\" alt=\"Immobile -age\" width=\"1152\" height=\"720\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, INE has investigated the <a title=\"Modal choice depending on age\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2014\/06\/18\/modal-choice-depending-on-age\/\">modal split<\/a>, <a title=\"Daily activities according to age\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2013\/09\/02\/daily-activities-according-to-age\/\">trip purpose<\/a>,<a title=\"Driving licences according to age\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2013\/09\/08\/driving-licences-according-to-age\/\"> driving licence ownership<\/a>,\u00a0 <a title=\"Bicycle, car and public transport card ownership by age group\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2014\/10\/01\/bicycle-car-and-public-transport-card-ownership-by-age-group\/\">public transport card ownership<\/a> and <a title=\"Ageing and the role of public transport\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/2014\/02\/19\/demography-and-the-role-of-public-transport\/\">reasons for using public transport <\/a>for different age groups in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<div class=\"pt-sm\">Schlagw\u00f6rter: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/tag\/mobility-patterns\/\">Mobility patterns<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/tag\/socio-economics\/\">Socio-economics<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/mobine\/tag\/switzerland\/\">Switzerland<\/a><br><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Institute for Sustainable Development (INE) participates in the EU-project METPEX that aims to develope a tool to measure passenger satisfaction.
