It is a highly vague term and the interpretation continues to be subject of debate, in particular amongst the different Internet stakeholders, but there is no doubt about the need for a Future Internet as such.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis of the concept of an Future Internet is linked to the early works on an alternative communication architecture conducted in the US in the early years of this century. Meanwhile the term emerged as a global theme with a much more comprehensive interpretation, in\u00a0particular\u00a0in Europe where it is driven by a massive financial investment by the public and private sector, first and foremost by the <a title=\"FI-PPP\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/icclab\/category\/projects\/fi-ppp-projects\/\">Future Internet Public-Private Partnership<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a title=\"ICCLab Research\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/icclab\/icclab-research\/\">ICCLab<\/a>\u00a0deeply involved and committed to in Future Internet Research.
