{"id":4234,"date":"2014-03-27T12:28:41","date_gmt":"2014-03-27T11:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/forschungssupport\/?p=4234"},"modified":"2014-03-27T12:37:24","modified_gmt":"2014-03-27T11:37:24","slug":"collaboration-with-african-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/forschungssupport\/collaboration-with-african-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaboration with African Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/forschungssupport\/collaboration-with-african-countries\/#more-4234\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4240 alignleft\" alt=\"Uni Basel\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.zhaw.ch\/forschungssupport\/files\/2014\/03\/Uni-Basel2.jpg\" width=\"110\" height=\"126\" \/><\/a>Based on the results of the mapping process and the feedback from participants of an Information Day on 19 February 2014 the Leading House Basel has further developed its outlines for 2013 \u2013 16 entailing:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>1) to give preference to a regional approach and to include by that the following geographical areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>French Speaking countries in Western Africa with<br \/>\n<strong>Senegal<\/strong> and <strong>Cameroun<\/strong> and linking to the RESCIF engineering network<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ghana<\/strong> and its developed higher education system<\/li>\n<li>Eastern Africa with <strong>Kenya<\/strong> and <strong>Uganda<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>South Eastern African region with <strong>Zambia<\/strong> and <strong>Mozambique<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2) To focus on institutional hotspots in the designated partner countries<\/p>\n<div id=\"c39547\">\n<h1>Call for kick-starting projects &#8211; OPEN<\/h1>\n<p>The funding line to finance kick-start activities with partners in Africa intends to incentivize and further collaboration between Swiss and African researchers by focusing on the following kick-starting instruments<\/p>\n<p>1)<b> Exchange visits <\/b>2)<b> Joint seminars <\/b>3) <b>Joint Workshops<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Financial volume:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Volume:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the period of 2013 \u2013 16, a total of CHF 480\u2019000 is available for kick-start projects. Individual applications shall not exceed the amount of CHF 10\u2019000.<br \/>\nSwiss researchers can apply for travel grants (flight costs up to CHF 1\u2019500) as well as for daily allowances for incoming researchers on the basis of current SNSF rates.<br \/>\nThe Swiss \u2013 African kick-start funding is complimentary to all other funding sources in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timeline:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Researchers are invited to submit project ideas by <b>30 April 2014<\/b> by using the <a title=\"Initiates file download\" href=\"https:\/\/globalaffairs.unibas.ch\/fileadmin\/globalaffairs\/user_upload\/redaktion\/Application_for_kick-starting_projects.doc\" target=\"_blank\">application form<\/a> [DOC\/90 KB] (Please send your application in electronic form to dorina.kuehner-at-unibas.ch). Project proposals will be evaluated by external experts, selection based on scientific merit. Depending on visa requirements, first projects may start any time after May 2014.
