The large-scale event, organised in collaboration with the <strong>ETH AI Center<\/strong>, <strong>ZHAW<\/strong>, and the <strong>University of Zurich<\/strong>, brought together experts and innovators from across disciplines to share perspectives and real-world applications of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Institute for Wealth &amp; Asset Management<\/strong> contributed with a dedicated session on <strong>AI in Financial Services<\/strong>, examining how the technology is reshaping processes, decision-making, and customer interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Part I \u2013 Trends and Developments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first part of the session, led by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zhaw.ch\/de\/ueber-uns\/person\/hauk\">Dr. Patrick Hauf<\/a><\/strong>, focused on the latest trends in AI adoption within the financial sector, particularly in Switzerland. Dr. Hauf highlighted two main drivers behind the growing momentum:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Efficiency, accessibility, and affordability<\/strong> \u2013 AI technologies are becoming increasingly powerful and cost-effective, enabling new business models and innovative applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsible AI and evaluation frameworks<\/strong> \u2013 As trust and transparency improve, so does the willingness of organisations to integrate AI into their core operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A lively <strong>panel discussion<\/strong> followed, featuring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Christian Diethelm (UBS)<\/strong>, who shared how UBS is leading the way in organisation-wide AI implementation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Claudia Schulz (Thomson Reuters)<\/strong>, who reminded the audience that even the most capable agentic AI still depends on human expertise, particularly for evaluation and decision-making.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Axel Pohl (LLamify)<\/strong>, who emphasised that agentic systems must be context-specific, as there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Part II \u2013 AI in Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second part, chaired by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zhaw.ch\/de\/ueber-uns\/person\/orpi\">Dr. Tomasz Orpiszewski<\/a> (ZHAW)<\/strong>, three <strong>practical use cases<\/strong> showcased how AI is being applied to real business and research challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>AI for ESG Risk Prediction<\/strong> \u2013 Dr. Tomasz Orpiszewski presented collaborative research with <strong>RepRisk AG<\/strong>, demonstrating how Natural Language Processing (NLP) and geospatial data can be combined to predict ESG risks at both company and country levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Geospatial AI for Business<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Isabelle Wittmann (IBM Research)<\/strong> introduced <em>TerraMind<\/em>, a Geospatial AI Foundation Model that leverages remote sensing data to solve complex business problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AI in Finance<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Srividhya Padmanabhan (LEND.ch)<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zhaw.ch\/de\/ueber-uns\/person\/wmar\">Dr. Marc Weibel<\/a> (ZHAW)<\/strong> showcased how <strong>Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)<\/strong> can streamline onboarding, enhance credit assessment, and improve customer experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Look Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event offered not only deep insights but also a glimpse into the collaborative spirit shaping the next generation of AI-driven innovation. It brought together <strong>academia, industry, and technology pioneers<\/strong> united by a common goal: to use AI responsibly and effectively to transform Financial Services\u2014and
